Passive House Standard is the fastest growing standard for energy efficiency worldwide that can achieve a reduction of energy consumption up to 90%. There are already more than 30,000 passive houses worldwide, many of them were built after the year 2000.

A Passive House is super insulated, airtight building. Heating it is done by passive accumulation of solar energy, the auxiliary heat from the electrical equipment, and the heat from the people who live in it. The remaining heat is provided by the extremely small thermal source. Thermal bridges in the Passive House are limited to a minimum to reduce heat loss. Thermal overheating is avoided by proper house orientation and high quality windows with triple glazing, which helps to reduce the need of active cooling, which in many cases is not necessary. A Passive House has a ventilation system with highly efficient heat recovery, and balanced, and permanent supply of fresh air.

The “EUROHOUSE-Bulgaria” houses are saving energy – the resistance coefficient in Thermal conductivity through the walls and roof is пїЅ=0.17 W/m2. The heating or cooling energy costs are from 30 to 70 kWh/square m., which expressed in conditional fuel is from 3 to 7 liters/square m. per year. Compared with the classic building they are to 70% lower. To achieve a similar effect in the traditional construction, the wall, built of bricks (fours) with a plaster should has a thickness of 140-160 cm or if is from aerated concrete blocks would be 100 cm thick.
